with minimally invasive
weight loss procedures
Our practice offers three minimally invasive endoscopic weight loss (bariatric) procedures. These include: Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty (ESG) or Accordion Procedure, Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty after Gastric Sleeve Surgery, also known as Endoscopic Revision after Gastric Sleeve Surgery, for patients that have previously undergone Gastric Sleeve Surgery, and Endoscopic Revision after Gastric Bypass for patients that have previously undergone Gastric Bypass Surgery. Detailed information about the procedures is available under the Procedures tab.
Drs. Staffetti and Ghanekar are Board Certified Gastroenterologists trained in minimally invasive endoscopic procedures. They are proficient in endoscopic procedures including: upper endoscopy, colonoscopy, enteroscopy, and ERCP for the treatment of disorders of the esophagus, stomach, small intestine, colon, rectum, anus, pancreas, gallbladder, and liver.

ENDOSCOPIC REVISION AFTER GASTRIC BYPASS
Endoscopic Revision after Gastric Bypass is a procedure for patients who have had a prior Gastric Bypass surgery and find that after initial significant weight loss they are now regaining weight. Gastric Bypass is a common weight loss procedure. It works by creating a small stomach pouch and a small opening (or outlet) between the stomach pouch and the small intestine. This small pouch and small opening helps patients limit the amount of food they can eat and contributes to a sensation of fullness after eating.
ENDOSCOPIC SLEEVE GASTROPLASTY (ESG)
Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty involves passing a lighted instrument ( a gastroscope ) into the stomach. The procedure is performed under general anesthesia for maximum comfort and safety. Using this instrument, a series of stiches is placed in the stomach that reduces the size of the stomach space, creating a “sleeve” and thereby reduces the amount of food the patient can eat at one time and increases the sensation of fullness after eating. This should result in weight loss.
ENDOSCOPIC SLEEVE GASTROPLASTY AFTER GASTRIC SLEEVE SURGERY
Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty after Gastric Sleeve Surgery is also known as Endoscopic Revision after Gastric Sleeve Surgery. This procedure helps patients who have had a prior Gastric Sleeve Surgery who find that after initial significant weight loss they are now regaining weight. Gastric Sleeve Surgery works by removing a portion of the stomach and creating a narrow sleeve which limits the amount of food a patient can eat. Over time, the stomach can stretch and patients can eat more food and find they are starting to regain weight. Endoscopic Sleeve Gastroplasty is a way to address this problem.
